Neighbourhood Policing

Burglary
Be extra vigilant and prepared when leaving your house unattended. Simple things like installing a security sensor light or leaving items such as radios and lamps on a timer switch may help to deter criminals. Other things you can do are:

  • Ensure all doors, windows, side or back gates are locked at all times. In the evening, draw the curtains and leave lights on.

  • Set your house alarm - even for short periods of time.

  • Lock your shed and garage. Do not leave any tools lying around in your garden.

  • If you see anyone acting suspiciously in the area please report it.

  • Check for any suspicious marks marking your property such as an X marked in chalk. Call 101.

Be nosey! Many arrests and dealings with burglars have come from a vigilant resident. Call 999 if you suspect a burglary is taking place.
